A room can only be one type if a room meets the requirements of multiple types of room simultaneously then it will be treated as a miscellaneous room with no bonus until it is specialized.
There is a glitch if you mixed gas in small room.

If two gases interact the gas with the most pressure will force the other gas out of its area mostly seen between oxygen and carbon dioxide.
With a few vents you will avoid the problem of having a concentration of gases that is too high.
